    Who is Maura?

"I am not afraid — I was born to do this."
-St. Joan of Arc

I am a blessed woman. I have a wonderful husband, four beautiful children, a deep faith, and a slightly unhealthy love of cheesecake, naps, and fun eyeglasses. I am also a personal trainer and nutrition coach who has been helping women get stronger and healthier since the mid-1990s — and I love it more today than I did on day one.

But here is what you will not find in my certifications: the reason I actually do this work.

My story

I grew up in Minnesota's Twin Cities and studied Psychology, Kinesiology, and Dietetics. I was always drawn to health — but I truly fell in love with it in college, when I went through treatment for an eating disorder.

That experience changed everything. I know what it feels like to be at war with your own body. To eat in shame, to exercise in punishment, to look in the mirror and see only what is wrong. And I know what it feels like to come out the other side — not perfectly, but differently. With more grace. More truth. More faith.

I became a personal trainer at the YWCA of St. Paul and have spent the decades since learning, growing, and working with women at every stage of life. Now in my 50s, my age is my advantage. I have lived the hormonal shifts, the recovery challenges, the inflammation, the late nights, the "I used to be able to do that" moments.  And I know that I am a better coach today than I ever was in my 20s.

Why faith changes everything

A few years ago I stopped treating my body like a problem to fix and started treating it like a gift to steward. That single shift — rooted in my Catholic faith — is what finally made everything click.

Now I specialize with Christian women 50–70 who are done with diets that do not stick. We combine strength training, high-protein nutrition, and a virtue-based framework that goes deeper than any meal plan ever could. The saints walk this road with us. The virtues show us who we are becoming.

You are not a project to be fixed. You are a beloved daughter of God learning to steward an irreplaceable gift.

I am so glad you are here.
