Prepping for the 30 days

Jan 6th, 2024. Yesterday, our family celebrated Epiphany with goose and prime rib. It was a decadent and delicious meal, but not typical for how I normally eat. I am a personal trainer with a degree in nutrition. I eat pretty healthy, I work out by lifting 2-3 times per week and I run or spin 1-2 times per week along with walking 10k steps daily. I am strong for a 56 year old woman, but my joints hurt all of the time and I have rheumatoid arthritis. I have inflammation which makes my work hard at times and certain days when some joints just don't move the way I want them to or they are very painful.

I eat over 100 grams of protein a day, but up to this point, most of it is coming from animal products. Although I love my veggies and fruit, that comes second to my protein intake.

I have been doing a great deal of research on plant based diets and the benefits that it could have on my health. I happen to have a doctors appointment coming up in 2 days with blood work being done on cholesterol and inflammation markers. I have been told my cholesterol is high and they would like me to start medication to bring it down. I have decided that I am going to take advantage of this opportunity and use myself as a guinea pig to test this out for myself, on myself.

Study after study shows this diet to be beneficial, but I would like to put myself through the good, bad and the unknown struggles and outcomes before I recommend this to any of my clients.

I am looking forward to seeing what the initial blood work shows and hoping that I will feel better along the way.
